Beethoven's inspiration for his famous 3rd Symphony "Eroica" was a vision of an unnamed heroic man. This great work stretched the limits of all symphonies written before it, and set a high bar for symphonies written after it. The Philharmonic will also play Mendelssohn's picturesque Hebrides Overture and Fauré's lovely Pelléas et Mélisande Suite .
